CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol (can-a-bid-ee-awl), a prominent naturally occurring phytocannabinoid found in hemp. Depending on the specific hemp cultivar, CBD can comprise the majority of a plant’s phytocannabinoid content. However, it is just one of dozens of different cannabinoids and phytochemicals found in hemp. Of these compounds, however, CBD is usually present in the highest concentration. It is, therefore, one of the most recognized – and popular. CBD is a non-intoxicating component of hemp that possesses a wide range of beneficial properties.
CBD oil is extracted from hemp that has high levels of cannabidiol (CBD) and low levels (less than 0.3%) of THC. Raw hemp extract can be used in paste form, or mixed with other oils such as coconut, olive, MCT, or hemp seed oil to produce what’s commonly known as a ‘CBD oil.’ The cannabidiol (CBD) content of CBD oil can vary tremendously across different brands since manufacturers use an assortment of techniques (and different hemp cultivars) to make their CBD oil. We only produce CBD oil from hemp that has a high concentration of phytochemicals (see corresponding lab reports) and THC levels under 0.3%.
All Wellington CBD & Medicinal Marijuana Care products are made from USA-grown hemp, which is a legal regulated crop under the U.S. Farm Bill. Hemp contains many different phytocannabinoids and other plant-based compounds, and CBD is just one of these compounds. Please have a look at our lab reports for detailed information on the contents of each of our products.
No, CBD will not get you high. It’s non-intoxicating. Like we just said THC is the molecule that binds to receptors in our brain and is the one responsible for the psychoactive effects of marijuana. In fact, CBD is antagonistic to the marijuana high; some research expresses its potential to prevent THC molecules from binding to the brain’s receptors (hence the reason why it’s often used to subdue the ‘paranoia’ effects of super-potent THC strains).
